Physical Cleanup

Within a year, your machine will start to accumulate a lot of dust. When this happens - your fans will have to work harder to dissipate heat. And when your CPU gets too hot, your machine throttles down CPU performance. (If you see kernel_task eating up 80-90% of your processes, it's definitely happening)

You can have it cleaned at your local iStore, which probably costs around Php 800 (about $16), or you can do it yourself if you have the right tools.

Thermal Paste Replacement

If your Mac has been around for more than 3-4 years, it might be time to apply fresh thermal paste to your CPU and GPU. While any thermal paste will work, a low-quality one won’t last long. I used Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut Thermal Paste and noticed a significant 10-degree drop compared to my previous thermal paste.
